About HARO Eyewear

What is HARO Eyewear?

HARO Eyewear is an independent eyewear brand born in Europe. The brand designs sunglasses and blue light glasses inspired by Mediterranean coastlines and Alpine winter places. Every frame is hand-finished, features polarized polycarbonate UV400 lenses (sunglasses) or blue-light filter lenses (glasses), and carries no visible logo.

Where is HARO Eyewear from?

HARO Eyewear was born in Europe and is legally registered in the United States (New Mexico). The brand operates globally, selling in 12 markets with currency-localized fixed pricing.

Who founded HARO Eyewear?

HARO Eyewear was founded by João Victor Penalva and Rafaell Penalva. The brand launched globally in 2025.

Why are HARO models named after coastal and Alpine places?

Each HARO frame is named after a specific Mediterranean coastal town or Alpine winter destination — Cannes 1946, Capri Malaparte, St. Moritz '19, Sanremo 1947, and so on. The naming anchors each model in a real cultural and geographical reference rather than in marketing language.

Collections and products

What collections does HARO Eyewear offer?

HARO offers four collections:

  • The Amalfi Selects — 16 sunglasses inspired by the Italian coast (Amalfi, Capri, Sorrento, Liguria, Sardinia, Sicily).
  • The Riviera Notes — 13 sunglasses named after towns on the French Riviera (Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Cap d'Antibes, Monte Carlo, Côte d'Azur).
  • The Alpine Edition — 7 blue light glasses inspired by Alpine winter places (St. Moritz, Davos, Zermatt, Chamonix, Cortina, Gstaad, Sils Maria).
  • Beyond the Frame — accessories collection (cases, caps, bracelets, small editions). In production.

How much do HARO sunglasses cost?

How much do HARO blue light glasses cost?

Every pair of HARO blue light glasses is priced at USD 55, with a compare-at price of USD 70. This price applies across all 7 Alpine Edition models.

Materials and lenses

What materials are HARO frames made from?

HARO frames are made from hand-finished Italian block acetate (Mazzucchelli-grade), polished metal, or a combination of the two. Every frame uses hand-polished hinges and reinforced construction. HARO does not use injection-moulded plastic.

Are HARO sunglasses polarized?

Yes. Every pair of HARO sunglasses features polarized polycarbonate lenses with UV400 protection (100% UVA/UVB blocking). Polarization reduces glare from horizontal surfaces such as water, marble, asphalt, and pale stone.

Do the lenses provide UV protection?

Yes. All HARO sunglasses offer 100% UVA and UVB protection (UV400 standard), helping protect your eyes while maintaining premium visual clarity.

What lens technology do HARO blue light glasses use?

HARO Alpine Edition glasses use lenses that filter approximately 30–40% of blue light in the 400–440 nanometre range — the band most relevant to digital eye strain. The lenses have a subtle amber tint, which is normal for effective blue-light filtering.

Are the lenses scratch-resistant?

Our lenses feature an anti-scratch coating designed for everyday use. While this helps preserve clarity, no lens is completely scratch-proof. Using the protective hard case and the included microfiber cleaning cloth will help maximize durability.

Are HARO frames unisex?

Most HARO frames are designed to be unisex. A few specific models (Anacapri Terrazza, Forte dei Marmi, Hyères Palmiers) lean feminine in proportion. The brand does not assign gender categories to models; the references are place-based, not gender-based.

Fit and use

How do I choose the right frame for my face shape?

General guidelines:

  • Round faces: Angular shapes help add definition (rectangular, square, browline, hexagonal).
  • Square faces: Rounded or softer shapes balance strong features (round, oval, aviator, cat-eye).
  • Oval faces: Most styles work well — medium proportions offer the best balance.

We also recommend checking lens width, bridge size, and temple length on each product page to ensure a proper fit. The frame should rest on your nose without pressure marks and span your face at the temples without overhanging.

Can HARO frames be fitted with prescription lenses?

HARO currently sells frames with standard polarized or blue-light lenses. For prescription fitting, customers can typically take HARO frames to a local optician who can replace the lenses — most optical labs can work with HARO's acetate and metal frames. Confirm with your optician before purchase if prescription fit is essential.

Do I need blue light glasses?

If you spend more than four hours a day in front of screens, you likely benefit from blue light glasses — particularly if you work in coding, design, writing, video calls, or any sustained near-focus task. The case is strongest if you use screens after sunset, since blue light suppresses melatonin production. If you spend most of your day outdoors, the benefit is minimal.

Care

How do I clean my HARO sunglasses?

Use only the microfibre cloth that comes with every pair. For more thorough cleaning, rinse the lenses with cool water and a drop of mild soap, then dry with the microfibre. Avoid t-shirts, shirt sleeves, paper towels and alcohol-based cleaners — these can micro-scratch the lens coating over time.

How should I store my HARO frames?

Every pair ships with a hard case. Store the frames in the case whenever they are not being worn. Soft pouches do not protect against pocket pressure or accidental drops. Avoid leaving frames in direct sunlight on a dashboard — high heat can warp acetate over time.
